The town of Boonville was officially incorporated in 1839, but it all started back in the early 1800's when Daniel Boone's sons discovered a salt lick and set up shop to sell this much needed commodity to pioneers. You can visit the Missouri State Park's Boone's Lick State Historic Site located northwest of Boonville and see where it all began.
Boonville sits high on bluffs overlooking the "Big Muddy", otherwise known as the Missouri River. It is in central Missouri, halfway between St. Louis and Kansas City on Interstate Hwy 70. |
